Sylvia Huang, laureate of the 2019 Queen Elisabeth Competition, and pianist Boris Kusnezow have formed a close duo since their collaboration during the competition. Their new album, released by Fuga Libera, presents an impressive program centered on nature and the seasons. From the fresh spring sounds of Lili Boulanger and Dora Pejačević to the warm summer mood in Rautavaara’s Summer Thoughts, and from Pépin’s autumnal rhythms to Ysaye’s winter Chant d’hiver – each piece evokes a unique atmosphere. With impressionistic and late romantic colors, Huang and Kusnezow take the audience on a poetic journey through the year.
