On October 6th, echofarmer (all lower case please) invites you to celebrate the release of Tiny Big Much, their first long-form mixtape. Just like the mixtape, the concert at Botanique will be a continuous stream of shape-shifting, whimsical, club-inspired music. With Tiny Big Much, The Brussels-based producer celebrates their laptop as an instrument and explores how tactile and magical digital music can feel.
echofarmer freely combines hyper-detailed percussion, vocal-like synths and snappy hits. Fed on hyperpop, IDM, footwork, breaks and other electronic nutrients, their tracks sound fizzy and cute at times, and brash and stormy at others. The listening experience moves freely between intimacy, explosion, cheerfulness and melancholy. echofarmer constantly plays with your expectations, while meticulously tending to the tiniest sound design details.
In essence, Tiny Big Much explores scale. You’ll encounter microscopic sounds at giant sizes, and large ones shrunk to fit into the palm of your hand. Expect a concert like a garden for you to explore: sometimes you’re an ant crawling through the grass, at others you’re a whole network of fungi sprawling throughout the digital soil.
echofarmer: "For every gig I play, I make new material and deconstruct older music to improvise with. It keeps the listener and myself on our toes. Going through this process my laptop becomes a magical instrument. These lithium nuggets, copper wires and solidified petroleum crammed together in an aluminium casing make a world-making machine. Every concert celebrates the magical realness and tactile syntheticness of the materials and tools I use. As much as the tracks on this mixtape are live demos solidified into studio versions, the shows following its release will showcase new seasons of these songs.”
The website for Tiny Big Much is an interactive sampler that invites you to trigger pink dolphins, bees, laptops and other characters floating around in a 3D version of Ableton’s interface. As more parts of Tiny Big Much drop, more samples appear on the website.
