Stone (Day 2)

STONE by Garance Maillot.

Prompted by the death of her grandfather, Garance Maillot’s debut stage project STONE asks exactly what we are supposed to do with the things we inherit. Moving far beyond simple grief, Maillot treats legacy as an unpredictable, living force. Mixing spoken word, song, and movement, she summons the active ghosts of lesbian and queer dance history to the stage, using their pioneer energy as doubles and guides to shift her own memories. The result is a joyful, melancholic performance where deeply intimate history becomes a collective dance, serving as an ode to love and the people who paved the way.
