Expectant parents Grace and Jackson leave New York for Montana. Initially, they are overjoyed with the birth of their child, but for Grace, the cloud nine feelings soon turn into something dark. She struggles with her new role as a mother. The remote location of the house and the lack of a social network do not make things any better.
Lynne Ramsay’s films are known for their powerful visual style, minimal dialogue and deeply emotional atmosphere. She often works with themes such as trauma, loss, alienation and violence as a latent force beneath the surface. In Die My Love, Ramsay makes it palpable how frustrating, isolating and frightening a psychosis can be. A poetic and at the same time disturbing film about love, motherhood and destructive desires.
