A boundary-blurring duo: acoustic meets electronic in playful, genre-bending explorations
Schntzl originally made minimalist music with classical and jazz influences, but has come a long way in the meantime. On their third album Holiday (2023) the pair goes down a daring new path, with elements of frenetic hyperpop and musique concrète. To everyone’s surprise, Hendrik Lasure and Casper Van De Velde thus set aside their jazz roots. Their new album, set to be released in early 2026 on VIERNULVIER Records, offers a delicate balance of raw live drums and hyper-digital synths and electronics. They thus create a futuristic soundscape that evokes the sensation of a transcendent club experience. Thematically and musically, schntzl continues to seek out moments of pure, childlike simplicity and joy.
