Fast, nocturnal electronic shoegaze, blending saturated guitars, trip-hop textures and melancholy

Perfectly Blue sees RIP Swirl (aka Luka Seifert) expanding the sound of his acclaimed 2022 debut Blurry, described by The Fader as a “whirring shoegaze revival record.” Blending his work as a producer and DJ in Berlin with a lifelong relationship to the guitar and an analog approach to recording, the album moves through shoegaze, trip-hop and nostalgic, nocturnal moods.

Recorded, produced and mixed by Luka in his Berlin home studio and mastered by Beau Thomas (Aphex Twin, Burial), Perfectly Blue features vocals from Tanukichan, alias error of a.s.o., Maria Somerville and Winter, and includes the singles “Call Me,” “I Found You Out,” “Negative Fantasy” and the title track.

RIP Swirl’s music has connected with audiences ranging from Gen Z alt-kids to techno purists. A close collaborator of artists such as Ydegirl and Ariana Manmoon of untitled (halo), his 2023 track with Ydegirl, “Let’s Make Out,” appeared on YEAR0001’s RIFT Two compilation, listed by DJ Mag among the compilations of the year.
