RUISKAMER: The Necks / Going feat. Tatsuhisa Yamamoto + GAME & Pak Yan Lau
A new RUISKAMER with The Necks & Going feat Tsuhisa Yamamoto. Improvisation with 18 years of experience by the iconic Australian trio, and music that makes your brain dance and sing by the Brussels trio Going in collaboration with one of Japan's most talented percussionists. The evening will be opened with a musical dialogue between Going’s Pak Yan Lau and the GAME ensemble.
In the category of legendary Australian cult bands, The Necks stand tall. Chris Abrahams (piano), Tony Buck (drums), and Lloyd Swanton (bass) have been planning their unorthodox sound for eighteen albums: longwinded pieces that slowly unravel, floating on a sustained deep groove. The deceptive simplicity of their music reveals new details with each listen. Not quite avant-garde, nor minimalist, ambient or jazz: The Necks’ music is completely unique!
Going feat. Tatsuhisa Yamamoto reaches for an universal sound, where minimal meets trance. With double drums, keys and electronics they craft an interstellar trip. Stuff to make your brain dance and hum.
Tsuhisa Yamamoto is a drummer from Yamaguchi, Japan well known throughout the country for his work with a wide range of musicians and theater groups. His wide interests have led him to be drummer of choice for Free Jazz legend Akira Sakata, he’s the composer/performer in many restagings of Terayama Shuji's works, wrote a film score for NHK, and performs with a wide range of artists like Oren Ambarchi, Giovanni Di Domenico and many more.
There are no set lists. No expectations. And definitely no requests. There is only trust: that The Necks will quite literally make it up as they go along.

About Going
GOING is a trio consisting of Portuguese drummer João Lobo, Italian pianist Giovanni Di Domenico and Belgian/HK pianist/composer Pak Yan Lau.
Giovanni Di Domenico, Brussels-based pianist, born in Rome. Majoring in ‘jazz piano’ at music school, he further built on an encyclopaedic technique: rhythm, harmony and tone are informed by non-western traditions.
João Lobo is a very active drummer in the European musical scene, having played in some of the most important jazz venues with musicians such as Enrico Rava, and recording for record labels such as ECM. Also active in many different contexts, he occasionally makes music for film and radio fiction among other things.
Pak Yan Lau is a Brussels-based sound artist, improviser, musician, and composer. Born in Belgium with roots from Hong Kong, she has developed a rich and captivating sound universe over the years. Her work combines prepared pianos, toy pianos, synthesizers, electronics, and various sound objects, skillfully blending electronic and acoustic approaches. Lau’s music often features intricate textures and timbres, showcasing complex soundscapes. Her solo work and collaborations have garnered critical acclaim, with Bakunawa being hailed as “among the best records we’ve had fall into our hands all year” by Soundohm (Italy).
