Alicja Kwade is internationally renowned for her sculptures and installations that challenge scientific and philosophical concepts. She achieves this by dismantling the boundaries of perception and putting our observational capacities to the test.
By using mirroring and repetition, and by deconstructing or reconstructing everyday objects and natural materials, she seeks to expose and understand the essence of our world.
Her oeuvre is at once poetic, magical and visually challenging. A selective overview of her practice in recent years, as well as new creations, are showcased in her solo exhibition at M.

In 2025, KU Leuven will celebrate its 600th anniversary with a year-long programme of events. This exhibition is part of the city festival programme marking this milestone.
From 16 May onwards, Kwade's work will also be featured in the art and science route 'And So, Change Comes in Waves'. This permanent route showcases eight new visual art installations alongside an equal number of new poems, located at sites connected to KU Leuven.
