Put aside your mid-winter blues and enjoy Belgium’s finest underground talent at the fifth edition of The Sound of the Belgian Underground on 30 Jan 2022! Subbacultcha and Ancienne Belgique present a curated lineup of must-see up and coming artists. So if you’ve been getting bored of your same old playlist, or want to party to some alternative music with the Subbacultcha community, you can’t miss out!
For ten years, Subbacultcha has been connecting artists with new audiences through their membership, agenda, online editorials, and print magazines. The Sound of the Belgian Underground is one of Subbacultcha’s many approaches to supporting new artists and providing members with a taste of the Belgian underground music scene.

Singer Lee Swinnen steps aside from his name to release his own music under the pseudonym Frankie Traandruppel. His EP, Asbestos Eye Candy combines garage pop-punk with classic rock influences, setting the tone for his new releases through Frankie Traandruppel.
Kleine Crack 16:10-16:30
Formidable Antwerp rapper Kleine Crack entrances listeners with his menacingly dark and deliberate music. Rapping in flemish, he inserts a devilish tone amid dance-worthy beats.
Salome 16:40-17:00
Shoegaze sounds with electronic drum and bass influences are to be expected from singer-songwriter Salome and producer and guitarist Dviance. Salome’s EP, Something But Plausible, released last year, introduced the world of underground synth-pop to her sound.

Dushime: Dushime’s dreamy, soothing voice suits the subtle beats and noise it accompanies. Her powerful and unique energy serves as a healing and connecting force as she creates and performs her music.
WLTR DJ-set 17:50-18:40
Ariana aka WLTR is a Nooit Meer Naar Huis DJ and the managing mommy of the young Antwerp based collective Burenhinder, a female art and rave collective striving to give local female artists a network. Her sets bring together the nastiest of hardcore tracks, euphoric harddance and most recognisable Thunderdome sounds. WLTR's number one priority is giving the audience an unforgettable gabber experience.

Under the alias Azertyklavierwerke, multidimensional songwriter, producer, and musician Alan Van Rompuy combines classical styles with a moody atmosphere.

PEGA is a female post-punk, noise-rock project consisting of Bárbara, Juliette, and Leslie. Their eccentric sound and pure positive energy is an experience you don’t want to miss out on.

Look no further than Helenah for your experimental pop fix. Helenah travels through many genres to bring captivating dreamlike beats in his latest album, Compressed ‘16 ‘17.
Meril Wubslin 20:50-21:40
Meril Wubslin is the Belgian based project of a musical trio consisting of Christian Garcia-Gaucher, Valérie Niederoest and Jérémie Conne. The group focuses on heavily rhythmic musical discussions involving vocalization and guitar.
Victor De Roo & Rachel Sassi 21:50-22:30
Victor De Roo, known for his DJing and producing combines with Rachel Sassi’s complex French-speaking voice in their single, Paysages Tristes. Join these artists in the somewhat melancholic atmosphere they build with poetry and synthwave music.
