Musical pilgrimage through shifting landscapes
The internationally sought-after Flemish composer Siebe Thijs comes to Antwerp on a contemporary pilgrimage. Four bodies trek through a constantly changing landscape. They are continually on the move, in search of a place that is still unfamiliar to them. Starting with John Dowland’s song cycle A Pilgrimes Solace (1612), Thijs creates unique musical theatre for four musical performers. They play not only instruments, but also bodies and sculptures.
Their collective journey vibrates on the threshold between the individual and the collective. Together with the audience, the performers explore the tension between self-interest and shared responsibility in an era that is increasingly turning inwards. What is the moment when the community rises above the individual? Pilgrimage invites you to pause and reflect on the other. A meditative, rhythmic, and fluid encounter between people, music, and theatre.
