Jakub Józef Orliński reinvents Baroque with groove and flair
What happens when the timeless sounds of the Baroque merge with the spirit of today? Jakub Józef Orliński - the countertenor of the moment - is coming to DE SINGEL. Breakdancer, model, and global phenomenon, but above all, a singer who breathes new life into the Baroque. Together with pianist Aleksander Dębicz, drummer Marcin Ułanowski, and double bassist Wojciech Gumiński, he lends a surprisingly modern twist to Baroque icons such as Purcell, Monteverdi, Handel, and Vivaldi. No harpsichord or lute, but the energetic sounds of piano, bass guitar, and drums.
Purcell's Music for a While takes on a hypnotic groove, Monteverdi sweeps you into a trance, and Vivaldi’s Giustino sounds fresh and boldly contemporary. This is Baroque reinventing itself - with one foot in the 18th century and the other in the 21st, complete with high-top sneakers.
Orliński and his team perform music that they want to hear and share with themselves. Their energy is palpable in every note, and the playful improvisations are infectious. A unique opportunity to experience a contemporary classical icon live - and to witness the hype up close.
