Les enfants rouges
While grazing their herd in the Tunisian mountains and playing near a spring, two teenagers are attacked by terrorists. Sixteen-year-old Nizar is murdered. Ashraf, only fourteen, must deliver a macabre message to his family.
With remarkably confident camerawork and direction, Les enfants rouges explores friendship and the processing of a traumatic event experienced by children as victims of political and religious violence. Inspired by true events.
Yet it’s not all doom and gloom. With poetic imagery, emotionally powerful scenes, and pure, natural acting, this film also shows that there is hope in memory, comfort in being together with family, and resilience within each of us.
