With dance, sculptures and video installations, Geumhyung Jeong explores the boundary between human and machine. Jeong constructs robot-like figures from medical dummies, skeletal models and technical components that move awkwardly, almost humanly.
The result is a strange choreography of vulnerability and mechanics. Jeong’s figures are not perfect robots; instead, they reveal human limits like failure, desire, and the search for connection. With a background in choreography and a fascination for technology and objects, she transforms the space into a creative workshop in which the sculptures truly come to life. Under Construction offers an honest, confrontational look at how technology shapes us in a world driven by constant progress.
In Toy Under Development, Jeong reveals the making of her "toys." Moving through different times and spaces with this lecture performance, she shares images and videos that exhibit not only the outcome but also the failures, disruptions, moments of uncertainty, as well as the questions that arise about building part-human chimeras that move on their own.
