A plunge into fun and awareness

Radiant Nights always innovates with an exciting program. For its seventh edition, which will shake up Antwerp on February 17 and 18, it will be no different. The festival joins forces with PLEASE ADD COLOR, an artistic and curatorial platform that questions the lack of diversity in the art world. This partnership promises not only to raise the visibility of various artists but also to stimulate or even strengthen our critical thinking regarding the art world we are currently part of.

Besides the exclusive program of each festival day, an exhibition will take place until 10 PM on both days. There will also be video screenings on day one, so make sure to not miss it!

Day 1: 17 February

Estelle Baldé

The first concert of this year’s festival starts with some music to warm up your heart after a grey winter’s day. Estelle Baldé is a singer-songwriter who, inspired by her personal experiences and the wonders of the world, creates sounds that can be compared to rays of sunshine. The universe of jazz, soul and bossa-nova serve as a base and inspiration, to which the artist brings her own creativity and talent which will captivate you in unexpected ways.

RabbaDance & The Kingz

David Kinkela is a 25-year-old multi-talent. A musician, dancer and choreographer, this young artist is also the mind and body behind RabbaDance. His popularity in the Afro scene reflects this combination of skills. Over time, he’s become known for his dance videos on social media and has made his mark on the scene with his music productions. On stage he not only follows the music with his movements but instils a crazy urge to dance in the audience. Just keep in mind that you run the risk of never wanting to leave the venue after seeing him perform!

Yvette Ofori Boatemaa

Yvette's performance brings together a powerful and soulful voice with a strong stage presence. Her show highlights the quality of this year’s curatorship by closing the first day with passion and warmth. Ultimately, this only helps in arousing curiosity and excitement for all that is to come on the next festival day.

Day 2: 18 February

Talk: Behind The F(r)ame

In order to further explore and create space for dialogue about artists of colour and their lack of presence in arts today, Radiant Nights #7 will feature an engaging and necessary talk in its program. On stage there will be Nadia Bourabain speaking with Nina Maat, Melissa Kurkut, Judith, Seckou and Salomé Ysebaert. All participants, some of them curators and entrepreneurs of the sector, will bring their knowledge, experience and background in the game, contributing in their own ways to this space of reflection about the dynamics of the current situation, and what we’d like to build as a future.

Samboleap Tol

Samboleap Tol is a Dutch Khmer artist with productions across different media such as drawings, installations, videos, sound and more. Her research opens up ways to explore the lives of diasporans in postcolonial contexts, an ongoing theme among many generations. She explores what was left behind in the place of departure, the motherland, and what is brought to the new land. For this festival’s edition, those matters are explored through an engaging and absolutely unmissable performance.

Issa Harissa / Uwase / Ruben Chi x Bob Sizoo

Right before the after-party, we get a combo as a closing act! At 8PM Issa Harissa with her underground hip hop, Uwase with her sweet and quasi naïve indie pop, and Ruben Chi x Bob Sizoo with their colourful experimental dance performance, take the stage. After each artist’s unique performance, you will surely long for the next Radiant Nights and, above all, you will have plenty of new artists to follow!
