The legendary American composer and media artist Arnold Dreyblatt (NY, 1953) has lived in Berlin since 1984. A student of greats such as Pauline Oliveros and La Monte Young, he belongs to the second generation of New York minimalist composers. Dreyblatt has always charted his own path, inventing a range of new instruments, performance techniques and even a tuning system along the way. How about a double bass strung with piano strings? Considered one of the more rock-oriented American minimalists, Dreyblatt has built a strong underground fan base for his transcendental, ecstatic music with his Orchestra of Excited Strings.
Mich Leemans (from Brussels) makes experimental music with a strong meditative character, which questions the concept of listening: as a listener you are challenged to accept a certain degree of uncertainty. The compositions are created with (analogue) oscillators, filters, a four-track tape recorder and effect pedals. In the spring of 2023, Leemans' debut album will be released on the impressive Cortizona label.
