Zooming in on a moment of speechlessness – a moment when language slips into crisis – DUST opens up and unfolds an imaginary world. There we find two characters, ‘Hmm’ and ‘Huh’, who constantly change shape. Rubbing against language, and at the same time worn away by it, they wander into a space of intimacy and confusion where they challenge the boundaries of the ‘I’.

With poetic dialogue and a jarring soundscape, they create a strange, sensual and sometimes playful world in which bodies constantly change, come together, fall apart and start again. By overlapping choreography and text, DUST explores transformation and the multiple self, with loss and desire as driving forces. The performance thus starts from the question: What does it mean to move or be moved outside of ourselves?

Judith Dhondt (BE)

Judith Dhondt is a performer, maker and writer. For the past years they have been active as a performer/maker in the collective: NOON. NOON is a transdisciplinary collective that nourishes interconnection, moved by environmental issues and by the question of relationality in a broad sense. Their last piece ‘And now the beginning is somewhere else’ premiered in Beyond the Black Box and will grow into a nomadic platform called ‘NOON days’. In 2021 Judith graduated from the MA program, Drama, of KASK (Ghent, BE) and the MA program of P.A.R.T.S. (Brussels, BE) called STUDIOS where they developed their artistic practice with Urtė Groblytė.

Urtė Groblytė (LT)

Urtė Groblytė is a maker and performer based in Brussels who works in dance, theater and choreography. Fiction, poetry and storytelling – in addition to a deep commitment to physicality – shape her artistic process, creating a continuous dialogue between text and movement. Urtė completed her education at the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts (LT) with classical ballet training. Between 2018 and 2019, she studied modern dance at Folkwang University of Arts. In 2022 she graduated from PARTS’ bachelor’s program and in 2024 she completed the STUDIOS master’s program there.

In addition to her work as a maker, she has collaborated with Alexander Vanthournout, Alexis Blake, Marijn Ottenhof, Elen Braga, Renato Misckolzi, Ode de Kort, Josef Simon, Alban Ovanessian, Eleni Roberts Kazouri and Vladimir Babinchuk Outerelo. With Judith Dhondt she collaborates since 2022.
