With her work, theatre maker Khadija El Kharraz Alami gives a voice to those who are not heard. Driven by an insatiable desire for research and experimentation, this DE SINGEL in-house artist presents her latest creation: a mythical narrative in which she stages a people who follow a rhythm all their own. El Kharraz Alami travels in time and space to get closer to her ancestors. She immerses herself in dance, song, music, customs, scarcity, sharing, rituals and traditions to awaken sides of herself that she would otherwise not meet and which would make them lost.
In ENSEMBLE PIECE / EXHUME BURIED CRIES / BEAUTY LOVE / REANIMATE THE DEAD, El Kharraz Alami digs for what remains undiscovered. To things, objects, feelings or entire cultures that have not yet been given room to develop freely. How does the unknown sound and move? What does that which we do not yet know look like? And what can it tell us when we finally bring it to life on stage?
