Brussels band JAKOMO puts out a sound they christened suave rock. After a well-deserved final place in Humo's Rock Rally 2020 and a strong debut EP Fastbreak, we saw them break ground at Dour, the Botanique and Ancienne Belgique, among other venues. With recent singles like "Call Me Out" and "Sexdroom", JAKOMO is clearly making great strides without losing its playful lo-fi character. With the help of producer Michiel De Maeseneer (Balthazar, Sylvie Kreusch, Nordmann...), we are presented with an eclectic mix of catchy melodies, alternative hooks and groove rhythms. JAKOMO's debut album will be released in spring 2023 on On The Level.
Soft Boy, the pseudonym of Xander Hamelton, put his debut album This Took a Long Time together in his bedroom, a fresh-sweet mix of harmonies, humour and twangy springy grooves. To make his bedroom pop stage-ready, he gathered some talented friends around him and has been blowing audiences away with a gentle summer breeze ever since. Singing about stalkers, bibliophiles and art school posers, he makes the spread between half a century of pop music: from Beach Boys to Gorillaz, Velvet Underground to Of Montreal. Party soft!
