Amidst the chaos of the 2011 revolution in Egypt, Nada Riyadh sees Ayman, the man she loves, leave to study filmmaking in the United States. His departure plunges her into a feeling of anxiety that echoes the developments of the revolution in Egypt and allows her to question the historical and actual meaning of political commitment.
Nada Riyadh lives in Egypt. In 2016, she co-directed a feature documentary Happily Ever After where she questioned the stability of a couple as they face political turmoil. In Fakh, screened during the 58th edition of La Semaine de la Critique, Nada delves deeper into her study of women’s place in a couple, where emotional and societal deflagration ruthlessly mirror each other.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A (in English) with director Nada Riyadh.
