How do you make a landscape tangible with sound? What encounters and connections take place? And what can listening to a landscape tell us?
Booreiland is a multimedia performance in which listening becomes central. In a series of poetic sound portraits set around a research vessel and a drilling platform, this performance outlines the fragile relationship between man, technology and the sea.
The North Sea is home to more than 900 oil and gas platforms scattered across the territorial waters of several European countries. But while our demand for energy is increasing, Europe's oil and gas fields are gradually depleting.
Over time, the old platforms have been transformed into artificial reefs, providing food and protection for marine organisms. The production platform thus becomes a symbolic place where humans, technology and marine life come together.
