Founded in 2011, we have been a community of artists and art lovers dedicated to the local cultural scene, operating under the name Subbacultcha Belgium. After more than a decade full of performances, expos, parties and over 100 magazines, we are ready for the next part of our journey: a fresh name reflecting our values and identity. We present Different Class.
Despite the new look, the beating heart of Different Class remains unchanged. Amid the many international publications, cultural organisations and promoters, Different Class is a small but proud maverick. We remain an independent membership promoting emerging culture through a curated agenda, print, and online publication. But we needed something Different, something that could represent our specific history right here in Belgium.
The new name might ring a bell. For the past 10 years, our annual summer festival has fostered this title. From now on, Different Class is the name of our whole picture, a place of community, boundary-pushing, and new experiences:
- Building community
Different Class builds a bridge between artists and audiences. From the writers, photographers and videographers that help us highlight the artists and venues we work with to our dynamic community of members and volunteers, we’ve created quite the ecosystem! On our social media channels, our carefully selected agenda, and our publications, we invite everyone to explore something Different.
- Pushing boundaries
We value Different thinking as we seek boundary-pushing artists and fresh faces. We choose to focus on young, diverse, and local artists to serve as a stepping stone for many collectives, organisations, and talents in Belgium.
- Creating new experiences
Making new, Different memories has never been easier. By partnering with more than 70 venues and promoters all across Belgium, Different Class offers you free spots at the best and brightest concerts, parties, performances, films, and exhibitions.
Different Class is a place for people who are open to discovering new artists and art, and also making new friends who have similar interests

So, what is Different?
With the arrival of Different Class, we are launching a brand new website. A new website which makes it easier to reserve your spot at Different Class events. Now, in order to attend a concert, expo, or party, you must make a reservation in advance. This makes it fast and easy for you to get into events for free.
We value our members’ skilful eyes! Want to recommend a show, party, or concert for our agenda? Want to write or take photographs for our publications? Want to intern at the DC office? Want to be featured in our magazines? Our new website makes it easier for members to get involved with Different Class.
New members can now join DC for a minimum of one month. We’re sure our event agenda will convince you to stay, but you can pause your membership at any time.
This year, our agenda will be framed around three Different Class parties, starting with one in Antwerp on 10.03.2023 at De Studio. Working with local organisers and collectives to organise these events, we are connecting our community through new experiences for our Different Class members.
