Radical Visions in Film, Sound, Dance & Play

This autumn, Bozar encourages us to explore art that challenges conventions and sparks fresh perspectives. From revolutionary cinema and experimental soundscapes to feminist dance and immersive digital experiences, the programme showcases artists and makers who invite us to rethink how we experience culture. Here are our five standout events of the fall season listed for you.
Close-up: Dogma '95 - 30 years
11-28.09.2025
Bozar celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Dogme 95 manifesto, the Danish movement that stripped cinema down to its essentials, emphasising raw emotion, reality, and storytelling. Initiated in 1995 by Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg, Dogme 95 rejected Hollywood spectacle and auteur mythologies in favour of collective, authentic cinematic expression. You can explore this approach through screenings of landmark films, including Festen, The Idiots, Open Hearts, and Italian for Beginners. The programme also reflects on the newly proposed Dogme 25, inviting reflection on cinema’s capacity for immediacy, honesty, and creative freedom.

Eno - Gary Hustwit
16.10.2025
Brian Eno, the ambient music pioneer and producer for Bowie, U2, and Talking Heads, is the subject of Gary Hustwit’s inventive documentary Eno. Combining rare archival footage, interviews, and unheard compositions, the film creates a layered portrait of an artist in perpetual exploration. Using generative software, each screening becomes a unique experience, a cinematic remix reflecting Eno’s experimental ethos. Beyond a simple biography, Eno transforms sound and image into a dynamic, evolving experience for the viewers.

nasa4nasa. Sham3dan
10.11.2025
Egyptian duo Noura Seif Hassanein and Salma Abdel Salam make their Bozar debut with Sham3dan, a performance exploring the intersection of ritual, identity, and collective presence. Inspired by the shamadan dance, a traditional Egyptian ceremony symbolising spiritual illumination, nine dancers balance candlesticks on their heads while moving in solemn, synchronised patterns. Set to a haunting score by Ismail Hosny, the choreography reinterprets ritual formality to reflect on resilience, communal responsibility, and the poetry of movement — a quiet yet commanding act of artistic inquiry.
