Tell us, what do you do in life?

I’m a Journalist and podcast producer of Scheef Bekeken (@scheefbekeken) is a Flemish queer podcast. Our aim is to broaden the discourse on lgbtqia+ subjects in Belgium. In each episode, we look at a queer cliché through a prism. Like: why are gays so present in nightlife? Or why is bisexuality so often ignored, even within our own community? Our podcast does not shy away from serious topics, but queer joy is at the heart of it.

What do you like best about your place?

The holy trinity: my books, records and the cat.

What’s the first record you bought?

Avril Lavigne’s Let go.

What’s your favourite pastime?

I picked up skateboarding again during the pandemic, which was great fun, but it's been hard to maintain lately.

By now I've shed all my shame about liking Taylor Swift. Also: teen tv, such as The OCOne Tree HillDegrassi: the next generation.

A teenage soap opera actor with a dwindling film career.

My pal Tim Devriese with who I record my podcast and Beach House for existing.

I really don't get Björk and I feel exhausted at the thought of trying. I also don't get Paris and I'm not sure if I should keep trying.

Who is the most underrated artist/ travel destination?

Hatchie bridges shoegaze and pop in such an effective way and she's really good live. She definitely deserves a wider audience. Travelwise, I don't get why people prefer the Algarve over the east coast of Portugal.

What is the key element of your morning routine?

Coffee.

Being surrounded by people and things that spark my creative imagination, be it a café, music venue or a bookshop.

Tokyo.

The latest book that you read and liked?

Detransition, Baby! (haven't had this much fun with a book in a long while).

The heart podcast.

Just ask me anything.

Amsterdam.

All of Gregg Araki's films! But if I had to choose: a double bill featuring Totally F***ed Up and Kaboom.

What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?

Light hangover brunch with friends after a night out dancing, then go out for a coffee and a chose (grapefruit mixed with tonic) while recounting yesterday's events.

Name a contemporary artist you think we should know about.

Luis Mendo's illustrations pop up on my feed regularly and never fail to put a smile on my face.

What is a relationship deal breaker?

Moving to the suburbs.

One thing you always have in your bag?

A lighter, because it's nice to hand out and you never know when you're gonna need it.

Where do you get inspiration from?

Love.

What is the most meditative activity to try out?

Drawing.

When was the last time that you had to fake laugh?
